The European Space Agency (ESA) has received the first pictures taken from the Meteosat Third Generation Imager-1 (MTG-I1), a third-generation of Earth observation satellite which allows impressive quality images.
The MTG-I1 satellite is the first of six satellites which should be sent into space during the MTG program. As in the CARIOQA-PMP project and the overall quantum pathfinder mission, the MTG program aims to use Earth observation from space to provide critical data and monitor climate change.
“This image represents not just what can be achieved through European expertise but our determination to ensure the benefits of new technology are felt by communities in Europe and beyond.” Simonetta Cheli, Director of Earth Observation Programmes, ESA
