The European Commission has released the 2026–2027 Work Programme of Horizon Europe, unveiling a new wave of funding opportunities under the Quantum Flagship. Among the key calls with a submission deadline of 15 April 2026 are the Grand Challenge on Quantum Sensors for Inertial Navigation, the Large-Scale Photonic Quantum Computing Platform Technologies (RIA), and the Standards for Quantum Technologies (CSA), all designed to strengthen Europe’s position in quantum sensing, scalable photonic computing and standardisation.

Looking ahead, additional initiatives are planned, including Quantum Chips calls under Chips JU, covering design and enabling technologies with a potential budget of €100 million and expected to open in July 2026, as well as a €29 million Quantum Space Gravimetry call scheduled for 2027 under the SPACE section. Together, these opportunities underline the EU’s continued strategic commitment to advancing quantum technologies and reinforcing Europe’s technological sovereignty.
